Lap Sit Week of 9/21

Another week of story time already come and gone! The repeated opening still seems to be going well and I love seeing babies start catching on to the hand motions of “Big Big Big”, so we’re going to stick with the same opening segment for now. Here is this week’s tidbit:

I did add/drop a song or two here and there this week, but here is the plan I started with:

If You’re Ready For a Story (to the tune of If You’re Happy and You Know It)
Clap your hands, stomp your feet, wave hello
Big Big Big
This is big big big- this is small small small
This is short short short- this is tall tall tall
This is fast fast fast- this is slow slow slow
This is yes yes yes- this is no no no
ABCs

Open/Shut Them
Open/shut them, open/shut them- give a little clap clap clap
Open/shut them, open/shut them- put them in your lap lap lap
Creep them crawl them, creep them crawl them
Right up to your chinny chin chin
Open wide your little mouth- but do not let them in!
Book #1: Can You Say It, Too? Quack! Quack! by Sebastien Braun

She’ll Be Coming Around the Mountain
I borrowed a version of this song from a great YouTube channel called Jbrary. It’s run by two children’s librarians in Canada and their channel is a great resource for new songs.
Row Row Row Your Boat

What Shall We Do With Lazy Baby?
(feel free to substitute your baby’s name and bounce, rock, or move however else your baby likes)
What shall we do with lazy baby?
What shall we do with lazy baby?
What shall we do with lazy baby?
Early in the morning
Roll her on the bed and tickle all over
Roll her on the bed and tickle all over
Roll her on the bed and tickle all over
Early in the morning
Heave ho and up she rises
Heave ho and up she rises
Heave ho and up she rises
Early in the morning

Love Somebody
Love somebody, yes I do
Love somebody, yes I do
Love somebody, yes I do
But I won’t tell who!
Jiggle like jelly, yes I will
Jiggle like jelly, yes I will
Jiggle like jelly, yes I will
 Because I can’t sit still
Climb a ladder oh so high
Climb a ladder oh so high
Climb a ladder oh so high
Til I touch the sky!

Slowly Slowly
Slowly slowly very slowly creeps the garden snail
Slowly slowly very slowly up the garden rail.
Quickly quickly very quickly runs the little mouse
Quickly quickly very quickly to his little house!
