For the last two summers, I’ve led a program called My First Summer, where caregivers bring babies to the library to meet other babies and make a keepsake craft or two. They were both very well received, so I thought I would try a My First Thanksgiving program this fall. I loved it (and caregivers did, too).
The only supply I purchased was a set of cardboard photo folders from Amazon, and they came in a pack of 100 so I have plenty of leftovers for a couple future programs. We used my library’s dedicated iMac with photobooth software to take photos with the babies, made handprint turkeys on the covers of our photo folders, and filled out “Thanksgiving Stats” about ourselves- those I created on the computer and printed on sticker paper.
*Not having my own baby, I had to use my storytime demo bear to stand in for my example craft. I think the bear is pretty photogenic.
